He and his increasingly-serious boyfriend and their crew get targeted by organized crime, which of course is a massive mistake on the crime lords’ part. Also they become space dads to a rescued kid. This is a spinoff of one of the author’s series I didn’t read, set in a universe where the tech level declines precipitously toward the fringes of settled space where tramp freighters are viable.
